1 Description It occurs as a White or almost white powder.

Test (B)

(A) The solution gives reaction of salicylates.
(B) It gives the reaction of bismuth.
3 Solubility Practically insoluble in water and in ethanol (96 per cent). It dissolves in mineral acids with decomposition.
4 Acidity Not more than 0.35 mL of 0.1 M sodium hydroxide is required to change the colour of the indicator to blue.
5 Chlorides Maximum 200 ppm.
6 Nitrates Maximum 0.4%.
7 Soluble bismuth Maximum 40 ppm.
8 Loss on Drying Maximum 1.0%.
9 Assay 56.0%–59.4% of Bi (Ar 209.0) (dried substance).

PACKAGING

MOLBIS® SS is packed in HDPE bag or HDPE drum with double PE liners inside having bar-coded label and tamper-evident seal.

SHELF LIFE, STORAGE AND PACKING

The shelf life is 3 years. Preserve in well-closed containers.
