Application: MOLBIS® SC is widely used in pharmaceutical formulations as an antacid and gastrointestinal protective agent. It is commonly incorporated into oral preparations intended to help relieve gastric discomfort, acidity, indigestion, and related gastrointestinal conditions. It also exhibits mild astringent and protective properties and is used in various pharmaceutical and medicinal formulations.

1 Description It occurs as a white or almost white powder; odurless.

(A) It gives the reaction of bismuth salts.
(B) It gives the reaction(A) of carbonates.
3 Solubility practically insoluble in water and in ethanol (96 per cent). It soluble with effervescence in mineral acids.
4 Appearance of solution The Solution A is not more opalescence standard OS2 and is colourless.
5 Alkali and alkaline-earth metals Not more than 1.0 per cent.
6 Arsenic Not more than 5 ppm.
7 Copper Not more than 50 ppm.
8 Lead The solution does not become cloudy.
9 Silver Not more than 25 ppm.
10 Chlorides Not more than 500 ppm.
11 Loss on drying Not more than 1.0 per cent.
12 Assay not less than 80.0 per cent and not more than 82.5 per cent of Bi, calculated on the dried basis.

PACKAGING

MOLBIS® SC is packed in HDPE bag or HDPE drum with double PE liners inside having bar-coded label and tamper-evident seal.

SHELF LIFE, STORAGE AND PACKING

The shelf life is 5 years. Preserve in well-closed containers.
